- Hazrat Hafsa was the daughter of Hazrat Umar bin Khattab, the second Khalifa.
- She was born five years before prophethood.
- She was first married to Khunais, son of Huzaifa.
- Hafsa became a Muslim along with her parents and her husband.
- Her husband migrated to Abyssinia and later to Madinah.
- Khunais took part in the Battle of Badr and was martyred, leaving no children.
- Hazrat Umar was worried abt her daughter and asked Hazrat Uthman to marry her
- After her iddat period, the Holy Prophet proposed to marry Hazrat Hafsa.
- The Holy Prophet married Hazrat Hafsa to strengthen ties with Hazrat Umar and his tribe.
- She became a close friend of Hazrat Aisha due to the preservation and compilation of hadith
- Hazrat Umar gave her the folios of the quran, later called Mushaf-e-Hafsah
- Hazrat Hafsa died in the state of fasting in the month of Shaban 45 A.H. during Muawiya's Khilafat.
- Before her death, she asked her brother to distribute her property to the poor and needy.
- Hazrat Hafsa had no children.
- She was buried in Jannat-ul-Baqi.
