- Jihad means striving or struggling for the sake of God, and it can take many forms.
- Every Muslim can take part in jihad peacefully.
- Jihad of the self (Jihad bin nafs / qalb) is known as the greater jihad.
- It is the inner fight between doing good and avoiding evil.
- This kind of jihad is about self-discipline and has no fighting or confrontation.
- Jihad against shaytaan (Satan) has two parts:
- The first is trying to stop the doubts shaytaan puts in your mind. These doubts come from wrong ideas, lack of knowledge, or misunderstanding. If you fight these doubts, you become more certain in your faith.
- The second is trying to stop the bad desires that shaytaan tries to tempt you with. Winning this battle helps you become more patient and successful.
- Jihad against oppression and hypocrisy comes in three ways:
- Jihad with the heart
- Jihad with the tongue or pen
- Jihad with your own self, which includes using your money and body
- This type of jihad is needed when Muslims are treated unfairly, being harmed, or need to defend their lives, homes, or communities.
by practising jihad of the self, Muslims are able to better themselves and live righteous lives. When every Muslim lives his / her life righteously then many evils of society will be
eradicated and all people will be able to live peaceful lives.
By peaceful dawah a better understanding of Islam could spread in the
world and non-Muslims would have a clearer understanding of Muslim
beliefs and what they stand for, which in turn would enable them to live in
peace with one another despite their different faiths.
By giving practical help to others, love and compassion in the communities
will increase and society at large would be more compassionate towards all
